The fort visit should last for about a couple of hours culminating in lunch at one of the many restaurants within the ramparts of the Fort.
We return to the hotel and checkout for a departure to the Sam Sand Dunes, to a campsite in the heart of the desert. As we near the location of the campsite, we take a short detour to the village of Kuldhara, which according to folk lore, is a cursed and haunted place.
Kuldhara was a prosperous village, inhabited by the Paliwal Brahmins. During this time, Salim Singh, the Diwan of Jaisalmer was in power and was known for his debauchery and unscrupulous tax-collecting methods,
One fine day, while on his rounds of the villages under him, he landed in Kuldhara and saw a beautiful girl in the village. She was the daughter of the village chief. The Diwan threatened to levy huge taxes on the village and kill anyone who came in his way of bedding the girl.
Fearing the wrath of the Diwan, the residents of the entire village fled one dark night, leaving behind their homes and everything within them.
Kuldhara was abandoned by its very own people. For generations now, no one knows where the Paliwals have resettled. All that is known is they cursed the town when they left – that no one would ever be able to settle down in Kuldhara again.

As we end the visit to the fort, we have the option of exploring the old part o town, through narrow alleyways and lanes with its blue painted houses, which give this city the name.
.The blue colour is attributed to a pigment coating on the houses. In the old days, this colour scheme was used to indicate that a Brahmin—the priests of the Indian caste system—dwelled there, but over time the color became a badge of identity for non-Brahmins, too.
It’s also said to have insect-repelling abilities.

Local folklore has it that once Om Singh Rathore was travelling to a place called Chotila on his bike when lost control and hit a nearby tree and perished in the spot.
Later on, when the police came to inspect the accident, they took the bike to the police station as part of evidence, but to everyone's surprise, the next day, the bike was found at the site of the accident.
The police took the bike again, chained it and emptied its fuel tank. But the bike disappeared from the police station and was again found at the site of the accident.
When locals came to know about it, they built a temple dedicated to Om Banna and started worshipping the motorcycle.
Since then, it is also known as Bullet Baba Temple.
